WCR - Are You Ready?


A Message from the President…

Melonie Haag and I attended the Women’s Council of Realtors® MEGA Network II convention in St. Louis, MO on April 4-6, 2008. It was a fabulous convention. They had some very good speakers and subjects. They also gave us every opportunity that we networked by having a party and several other activities. They also made sure we met different people and did more networking by making us change tables twice during lunch on Saturday. It was really fun. One of the subjects was “The Power of Web 2.0” by Amy Chorew, which gave us new ways to get our information out to the public and possibly get more calls from buyers. This was a very informative presentation. I would recommend it to everyone. They are going to have this same talk at the “Influential Women Summit” in Boston July 11-13, 2008. I would recommend that all of you attend this conference. You will thoroughly enjoy it. We have $1,000 in our budget to help people who want to travel to this conference.

Our National President, Ann DeFries and our Florida State President, Rosemary Mahoney were both in attendance. We also had 4 additional state Presidents. This was a good way to meet people from all over the country.

We had a wonderful meeting this month. Our speaker was Sherri Meadows, our Women’s Council of Realtors® Governor. She gave us a very entertaining and useful talk on time management. One of the audience participation activities was a demonstration of trying to keep all of the activities Realtors® have to keep up with during transactions. She had three members come up to the front. They had to keep all of the balloons she was throwing out, as she mentioned activities, from hitting the floor. As more and more balloons were thrown, it became very, very difficult to keep the balloons from hitting the floor. This was an example why people need to use time management to keep their “schedules from falling to the floor.” She had a powerful presentation.

Congratulations! The winner of the mystery gift was Micki Hanna. The mystery gift was donated by Hazel Carlson of Franklin Realty Consultants. The winner of the free lunch was Tracy Colletti. Bob Ringo won the book given by Sherri Meadows and the box of chocolate she also donated was won by Cathy Farrell.

We only had approximately 30 people who signed up for the Kim Dickey CE class on 4/10/08. However, Kim graciously decided to give the class even though we did not have the desired size of 50. We certainly thank her for doing so because it was a GREAT class. 

GET YOUR RECIPES READY!!!!

As a fundraiser we are going to have a cookbook. You can put your recipes in and have advertising along with it! Bob Ringo and Sarah Fitts put together forms for submitting recipes to the book. The cost per recipe is $5.00. The were able to get 10 committee members committed to getting 25 recipes each and $200 in ads. I am very excited about this project. It can be a great project and also raise quite a bit of money for the chapter.  Lets go team!

PUT LINKS TO YOUR WEBSITE FUNDRAISER!
We are looking at possible ways to make money for the chapter. One of the options is to charge a member $12 per year to put a link to their website on our local website. This also helps to bring up your website in the search for the search engines. A real cheap way to improve your website on the list!

ADVERTISE ON OUR WEBSITE!!
A second option is to charge members or others $25 per month to put a business card size ad on the newsletter. Marion county has been doing this and it has been very successful. I have put in 2 ads for this newsletter. Check it out!!!

Our next program…

The May program will be “Negotiating” by Kim Dickey. This is a wonderful presentation and can teach us all how to better handle our negotiations for our customers. The location will be at the new board office in Hernando. The new office is basically across from Wal-Mart. The evite will have the address. Don’t miss it!
